乐意事奉 With Gladness
“普天下当向耶和华欢呼！ 你们当乐意事奉耶和华， 当来向他歌唱！” 诗篇 100:1-2
Shout with joy to the Lord, all the earth! Worship the Lord with gladness. Come before him, singing with joy. P S A LM 1 0 0 : 1 – 2
Do you know that church isn’t supposed to be boring? Did you know that? Some people have been engrained to think that church is always supposed to be solemn and respectful and ordered and hallowed (which sounds especially seriously religious if you pronounce it Old English-style:“Hal-low-ed”). But this just isn’t a full picture of church. Can you see Jesus being satisfied to fall asleep as a speaker drones on and on? Can you imagine Jesus looking blank faced as choruses are repeated and a pew bench cramps his lower back?
Can you picture Jesus trying to draw something on the bulletin with that little tiny golf pencil found next to the old red hymnal? Or do see Jesus engaging in discussion about the Bible? Do you imagine him smiling as people make discoveries about the greatness of God? Do you picture him preparing a meal over a fire and giving thanks for the food and for time with his friends? He loved being with the gathering of his followers! When he entered Jerusalem, as people rallied to him, he declared, “Even the stones will burst into cheers!”
Jesus, let my heart come alive with joy before you today. Amen.
Pick up some musical instruments or get a karaoke machine. Then gather some friends, put on smiles and laughter, and spend some time loudly singing praise songs.
